Software

GFMS is a web-based software used in the administration of the Security Asset Manager (SAM) product line of electronic key cabinets. The GFMS software provides a programming interface for the SAM and also stores SAM transaction records.

System Requirements:

Software Components:

The following software components are required to run GFMS and are included in the install package. MySQL and Apache are configured to run GFMS at time of software package installation.

MySQL – Database system that will store user programming and audit trail records. This package will install a MySQL server for use with a GFMS database. Note – Alternatively, MS SQL Server 2000/20005 can be configured to host a GFMS database. Please contact CIC Technical Support for additional information.

Apache 2.0 – Popular open-source web server that is used to serve the GFMS software interface. IIS is an acceptable alternative to Apache.

GFMS – The user interface for administering a GFMS/SAM system. At time of installation, a blank GFMS database is created and Apache is modified to serve the interface. GFMS installation also creates a Windows Service to transmit data between the SAM and GFMS.

Software Environment Options:

GFMS can be installed in the following operating environments. Each environment has its advantages and disadvantages. Customers with specific requirements are requested to contact Technical Support.

Server – GFMS Software Package including MySQL and Apache is installed on a server with network connectivity to the SAM(s). Any user with network connectivity and a GFMS account can access GFMS via a web browser. This configuration allows real-time monitoring with configurable e-mail alerts.

Workstation – GFMS Software Package is installed on a workstation with network connectivity to SAM(s). This configuration allows real-time monitoring with configurable e-mail alerts as long as the workstation is online. Any user with network connectivity to this workstation and a GFMS account can access GFMS via a web server. If the workstation is off, no users will be able to access GFMS nor will GFMS receive any transaction data from the SAM(s). The SAM(s) will store all transaction data until the connection is restored.

Laptop (stand-alone) - GFMS Software Package is installed on a laptop. Typically, the laptop is only connected when programming changes are required or when transaction data has been requested. Real time monitoring and e-mail alert features cannot be used in this operating environment.

Requirements:

XP Pro / Server 2003 / Server 2008 / Vista / Vista Business / Vista Ultimate, Windows 7
2 GB Hard Disk Space for Initial Install (more may become necessary with use)
Network Card

Database Back-Up Options:

As with any database system, it’s advisable to perform frequent back-ups to minimize risk of data loss. Each operating environment noted above offers different back-up solutions. Included in the GFMS Software Package is a simple script that will back up the database locally via MySQL. You’ll need to configure this script to meet your back-up requirements such as backing-up to a different drive or creating a scheduled task. Alternatively, you can use a third-party back-up solution.
